Librela (bedinvetmab injection) is a newer once a month injectable medication labeled for use in dogs with osteoarthritis. It is a canine anti-nerve growth factor monoclonal antibody indicated for the control of pain associated with arthritis in dogs. Only a licensed veterinarian can administer this product. Librela has been shown to be highly effective in dogs and may even replace the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and/or other medications. For some pets it is a game changer. However, it should be used with caution in dogs that may have a concomitant neurologic problem. Dr. Monica will have a through discussion with you regarding whether your dog is a candidate for this new drug.

If your dog is a candidate, Dr. Monica can administer the medication in the comfort of your own home rather than having to take your pet to the vet for the shot every month.

Adequan (polysulfated aminoglycoside) is a pharmaceutical injectable medication proven to help support joints with arthritis. It is labeled for use in multiple species, including dogs and cats. Adequan restores joint lubrication, relieves inflammation, and restores the building blocks of joint cartilage. Adequan is usually given twice weekly for 4 weeks then once monthly for maintenance however studies related to efficacy were limited to the initial induction therapy.

Talk to Dr. Monica to see if your pet is a candidate for Adequan shots. It has been reported that the sooner the injections are started in your pet’s life, the better. Dr. Monica will gladly provide the treatment during the house call visits.

Dr. Monica uses Vitamin B12 for aquapuncture. Aquapuncture is the use of a small volume of liquid injected into specific acupuncture points. Aquapuncture stimulates the points and allows for the positive effects of acupuncture to linger longer.
